Fullness in window treatments refers to how much fabric is used relative to the width of the window or curtain rod. For example, a curtain with 2x fullness uses twice the width of fabric compared to the width of the window. This gives the curtain a more gathered, luxurious appearance. However, it's important to note that there are various mounting surfaces—such as concrete, wood, drywall, plaster, steel, and more. While it's not feasible for us to provide screws and fasteners for every possible surface type, the included installation materials are designed to meet the needs of most customers.

Most of our products offer excellent nighttime privacy. However, products labeled as 'transparent' or solar screen shades may not provide the same level of privacy. With light-filtering materials, shadows from the outside may be visible. To ensure the privacy level meets your needs, we highly recommend ordering swatches before making your final decision.
Light passing through translucent fabrics, known as 'backlighting,' can subtly change the color and highlight the texture of the material. Please be aware that the swatches shown on our website do not capture this backlighting effect. To fully understand how backlighting will affect the color and texture of a particular fabric in your home, we suggest ordering swatches from us. This will allow you to see the effect in your own space under natural lighting.
The term "mount" refers to the method used to install your window treatment, specifically whether it is placed inside or outside the window frame.
Inside mount refers to installing the window treatment within the window frame, creating a clean, recessed look. This type of mounting is popular for its sleek, modern appearance and is commonly used for blinds and shades. The minimum depth required for an inside mount can vary by product, so please refer to the product specifications for specific depth requirements.
Outside mount is when the treatment is installed outside the window frame, either on the window casing or on the wall above the window. This option is ideal for windows with obstacles, such as security hardware, or windows with shallow sills that make inside mounting impractical. Outside mounts can also make windows appear larger and can help hide less attractive features of the window frame.
Opacity refers to the degree to which a fabric allows light to pass through. Fabrics that block all light are typically called 'blackout' materials. However, even blackout products may let some light seep through the edges. 'Room-darkening' fabrics block most light but are not fully opaque. 'Light-filtering' fabrics provide a soft, diffused glow during the day while still allowing some light into the room and preserving privacy. On the other hand, 'transparent' and 'solar' fabrics allow visibility but do not provide privacy. For certain products, you can enhance their opacity by adding a blackout liner.

Mounted inside the window frame for a sleek, built-in look that keeps your trim visible. This option requires a certain amount of space, known as the minimum depth requirement. Minimum depth requirements vary by product and are noted in each product's details.
Since windows are not always perfectly square, measure the width in three places-top, middle, and bottom (see diagram above). Use the smallest one as your ordering width. We will make the necessary deductions (about 1/8"–1/2" or 3mm-12mm).

Measure the depth at the top of your window’s inside casing. This ensures there’s enough space for a secure inside mount and helps determine if a flush mount (where the product sits within the frame) is possible. Product depth varies by control type and options. Minimum depth requirements vary by product and are noted in each product page's details.

For some types of blinds or shades, you can choose a NO DRILL INSIDE MOUNT option. The measuring method for NO DRILL INSIDE MOUNT and INSIDE MOUNT is exactly the same. However, for NO DRILL INSIDE MOUNT, the material width is the same as the ordering width, since there are no brackets, and therefore no deductions are needed.
Measure the width of the area you want to cover. If space allows, add 2–3" or 50mm-80mm (about 1–1½" or 25mm-40mm on each side) to reduce light gaps. The final number will be your ordering width and the overall width of the shade.
